Suriname finished the year on a positive note smith a fourth offshore discovery by Petronas in a JV with ExxonMobil.

With an estimated resource potential of 13.6 billion barrels (P50), the United States Geological Survey (USGS 2012) ranks the Guiana Basin 2nd in the world for prospectivity among the world's unexplored basins and 12th for oiI among all the worId's basins - explored and unexplored.


In January 2021 the Keskesi East-1 discovery was announced in Block 58. Keep an eye out for the outcome of Staatsolie´s Suriname Shallow Offshore Bid Round with bids due to close on the 30th April 2020.

Staatsolie Hydrocarbon Institute N.V. (SHI) is pleased to announce the offer of eight new blocks in the currently unlicensed and under-explored Shallow Offshore (SHO) acreage of Suriname via a round of competitive bidding. The blocks are located in the west of the Shallow Offshore area, south of the recent deepwater discoveries made in Block 58 and northwest of the onshore producing fields.
