Mr. Schuler is the Director of External Affairs for the Americas for Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), a global industry-funded response organization.  Prior to a merger with OSRL in 2013, he was CEO of Clean Caribbean & Americas (CCA).  He has spent the past 30 years working on international aspects of oil spill preparedness and response, having supported openings of the oil sector in Venezuela, Brazil, and elsewhere in Latin America.  He is an expert on the science and use of dispersants to combat oil spills and in 2010 led CCA’s response efforts on behalf of BP during the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico.  He subsequently testified before a US Senate Committee on oil spill issues resulting from Cuban drilling in the Straits of Florida. He has been both an investigator and sponsor or field research in Panama supporting oil spill decision-making as well as lab studies to determine toxicity thresholds for coral. He currently chairs a Technical Advisory Committee for a Canadian government research project.

Mr. Schuler is a native of Babylon, NY, He holds a BA in Business and Government and Masters degrees in International Relations and in National Security Affairs. Prior to his work in the private sector he served 15 years in the US Navy.
