The Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdekUS) is the only academic educational institute of Suriname. Its official proclamation was on 1st november 1968.

The university has 6 faculties (Law, Technological Sciences, Social Sciences, Medical Sciences, Humaniora and IGSR) and three research institutes (IMWO, MWI, Celos, Intec) who are the (applied)scientific links to society.

AdekUS is also home to the National Herbarium and the National Zoological collection.
