The Maritime Authority Suriname is established by law as a statutory agency. The main objective is ensuring safe and efficient passage of sea going ships to and from Suriname. This is done in accordance with the conventions ratified by Suriname, as well by supervision and in compliance with national regulations. The MAS is a designated authority and Maritime Administration with legal body duties such as Pilot Services, Hydrographic services, Port State Control and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) certification and audits.
