OSGP Alliance, founded in 2006 as the Energy Services Network Association (ESNA), is an independent global not-for-profit association that promotes the adoption of the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP), along with related services and infrastructure for smart grid applications. Its members include utilities, software and hardware providers, service providers, and solution integrators who share a common goal and vision of promoting open standards for energy demand-side management, smart grid solutions, and smart metering systems.

The OSGP Alliance advocates for a shift in the current metering business model — from selling isolated units to offering interoperable smart meter management systems as an integrated element within the overall energy sales and distribution value chain. In addition, Advanced Meter Management (AMM), based on the OSGP AMI architecture, provides added value by supporting key policy objectives such as energy savings, reduction of CO₂ emissions, and improved grid stability.

Last but not least, it also contributes to greater consumer satisfaction by helping users better understand their energy consumption and providing a foundation for more competitive energy purchasing.
