Director, Downstream Petroleum Management Division, Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, Trinidad and Tobago

Ayasha Nickie is currently the Director of the Downstream Petroleum Management Division at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI), Trinidad and Tobago. She graduated with an MBA with a specialization in Energy from the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma, USA, earned a Masters in Petroleum Economics and Management from the Institute of French Petroleum (IFP), Paris, France as well as obtained a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. She worked for fifteen (15) years at the MEEI and was the first certified Petroleum Engineer through the SPE certification exam in her country. Gas value Chain review, reserve analysis, administration and issuance of Pipeline and Marketing Licences with respect to transport and sale of petroleum products, Competitive Bid Round Evaluations, technical and economic analysis of field development plans as well as Strategic planning are her main duties and focus.

Coupled with her fifteen (15) years of experience at the MEEI, she also spent eight years (8) working in various leadership roles at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Trinidad and Tobago Ltd (SPETT). She served as Chairperson and Director to the SPETT section and was appointed by the SPE International President to be a member of the SPE International Standing Committee on Engineering Professionalism and later chosen as the Chair of that Committee. From 2021-2023, she was also selected to another leadership role as Board Director of National Quarries Company Limited.
