Guido Koorndijk

Director , N.V. DORDT Gateway

Ir. Guido Koorndijk is a civil engineer and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience delivering complex infrastructure and energy projects across Suriname, Guyana, and the wider Caribbean. A graduate of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft, 1998), he began his career at Ballast Nedam International, where he designed and constructed major civil engineering works — bridges, dikes, roads, and offshore pipelines — across the Netherlands, Suriname, Mexico, Japan, and the United States.

In 2007, Guido co-founded FIRM Engineering, a multidisciplinary engineering firm operating at the intersection of the built environment and the energy sector. FIRM Engineering has since delivered high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, ports, roads, bridges, and offshore pipeline projects throughout the region, with a strong focus on oil and gas-related development. The firm’s track record spans more than a dozen countries and territories in the Caribbean basin.

Since Q1 2025, Guido has also served as Co-Founder and Director of NV DORDT Gateway, an initiative focused on developing a state-of-the-art marine support base in Suriname. DORDT Gateway is positioned to become a key logistics and operational hub serving the offshore energy industry in the Surinamese and Guyanese maritime frontier.

As Chairman of ORIS (Orde van Raadgevende Ingenieurs in Suriname) since 2024, Guido is the leading voice of Suriname’s consulting engineering profession, advocating for technical excellence, professional standards, and the role of local expertise in the country’s fast-evolving energy landscape. At SEOGS, he speaks on behalf of ORIS, representing the perspective of Surinamese engineers on the opportunities and challenges of the region’s offshore energy boom.
