Dirk Currie studied business economics at Anton de Kom University of Suriname. He worked at the Ministry of Finance for 6 years and held managerial roles in large companies for over 33 years, including CFO, CEO, and COO. In 2020, he founded YLT Consultancy, focusing on leadership and management. Dirk has served on numerous supervisory boards and led the Regional telecommunication organization, CANTO for 5 years. He was involved in foundations and associations, including Wi Tru Sranan and the Lotjeshuis. On August 5, 2025, he was sworn in as Minister of Education, Science, and Culture. Dirk enjoys sports, reading, nature, and values freedom, respect, and justice. He is the proud father to Giano and Tirzah.
