Hon. Gilroy Usher was born in the Belize District, in the small community of Bermudian Landing. He attended St. John’s College, and then the Belize Teacher’s College. He is at heart an educator, having been in the teaching profession for 25 years. He is also a self-made businessman who started small and has now built a successful family-owned enterprise in the country.

He has long advocated for equality of the working class in Belize, and an upliftment of the quality of life of disadvantaged Belizeans.

In 2020 he was elected into Parliament and assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Transport. Upon re-election in 2025. He was assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics.
