International Organization for Migration (IOM) Suriname’s Jan Willem Wegdam is a Dutch citizen, educated in economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has a specialty in Transport and Port Economics.

In addition to his present position as team leader for IOM Suriname, Wegdam has led IOM emergency response and migration management projects across the Caribbean including Dominica, The Bahamas and Saint Vincent and The Grenadines.

Prior to IOM, Mr. Wegdam worked with Red Cross, Caritas, and had a career in the private sector with Ahold Delhaize and his own company that traded innovative products for the humanitarian shelter sector.
