He began his career in Argentina in 1983 in an auditing firm associated with Deloitte.

He joined Bridas in 1985 and has since held several senior management positions, both locally and internationally.

In 1998 he joined Total Austral as Audit and Control Manager, a position he held until 2001. Subsequently, he was Strategy Manager of Total Austral's Exploration and Production operations, with emphasis on the integration of the Company's upstream and midstream businesses in the Southern Cone. From 2004 he served as Director of Business Development until February 2007, when he first assumed the General Management of Total Austral.

In 2014, he assumed the position of Director of East Africa until 2017, to serve as Senior Vice President of the Asia-Pacific zone and member of the Exploration-Production Management Committee of TotalEnergies.

In January 2022 he was appointed Managing Director of Total Austral and VP of TotalEnergies Southern Cone for the Exploration-Production (EP) and Gas, Renewables and Electricity (GRP) activities of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru.

Since September 2023 he is appointed Senior Vice President Americas and he is a member of the Exploration & Production Management Committee.

Javier Rielo was born in Spain and graduated as a Public Accountant from the University of Buenos Aires.
