Rishi Kartaram
Rishi Kartaram is General Partner at Ruhi Ventures Capital & Partners (Dubai), a capital and advisory firm working with UHNW families, family offices and institutional investors across technology, healthcare, renewable energy and consumer goods.
Ruhi Ventures Capital & Partners is the financial architect and arranger of BambooBond — Suriname's first nature-based structured green bond — being issued by Suriname Bamboo Company to finance an integrated carbon-removal platform across 1,000 hectares of bamboo plantation, in partnership with indigenous communities.
Born in 1973 in Paramaribo, Kartaram grew up in Rotterdam and studied Economics at Erasmus University. He founded his first company in 1992, which became the largest distributor of games and consoles in the Benelux and later developed into an e-commerce supply-chain platform partnering with Amazon. He founded Ruhi Ventures B.V. in 2012 as a Dutch family office; the firm's advisory services were subsequently split off to Dubai as Ruhi Ventures Capital & Partners.
Since 2024, Kartaram has directed part of Ruhi Ventures' mandate to Suriname, focused on employment, ESG standards and youth development. He also leads the restoration of Stichting Shanti Dal, founded by his grandfather in Paramaribo to support the elderly and youth in Suriname.
His work has been recognised with the Other Businessman Award and nominations for EY Entrepreneur of the Year and the Rotterdam Entrepreneur Prize.
