Salomon Kroonenberg (1947) is endowed professor of geology at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname since 2017 and emeritus professor at Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Netherlands. He obtained his PhD in 1976 at the University of Amsterdam while employed as a geologist at the Geological and Mining Service of Suriname (1972-1978). After jobs in Swaziland, Colombia and Wageningen he was appointed in Delft in 1996. He published over 50 scientific papers and a book about the geology of Suriname and the Guiana Shield, and over 100 papers and 7 books about other subjects.
