Samiran Roy
Samiran Roy brings over 18 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. He holds a Master's degree in Applied Geophysics from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – Indian School of Mines. Beginning his career with an International Oil Company (IOC) as an exploration geophysicist, Samiran has been actively involved in deep-water exploration activities.
Throughout his career, Samiran has demonstrated a strong commitment to knowledge sharing, having conducted numerous training and mentoring sessions for professionals, students, academia, and executives within the oil and gas sector. He also serves as a member of the Board of Studies at Presidency University, Bengaluru.
Samiran's innovative work in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) has led to the filing of six US patent applications, four have been granted already. His primary focus lies in designing AI/ML-based algorithms to address industry challenges. He has successfully delivered a range of projects, including those related to Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), Machine Learning-Based Seismic Inversion, Data-Driven Fluid Likelihood Prediction, and Assisted Sweet Spot Identification.
Currently, Samiran holds the position of Global Data Science Advisor at Halliburton, where he continues to contribute his expertise and drive advancements in the industry.
