Travis Hansen is the incoming Marine Spill Director at Ipieca. This includes leading the IMO–Ipieca Global Initiative (GI) to strengthen oil spill preparedness, response and crisis‑management capability worldwide. With more than two decades of international experience from ExxonMobil, he has delivered national‑level exercises and practitioner‑led crisis‑management training across EAME/AP. Travis has worked closely with GI WACAF and helped advance the GI Caribbean, with a strong focus on improving regional cooperation and addressing transboundary response challenges. His experience offers valuable insight into how offshore development, shared marine resources and cross‑border risks shape preparedness needs in Suriname and the wider Caribbean.
