V. Nazim Burke

V. Nazim Burke is a Grenadian Atorney-at-Law, Economist, Former University Lecturer, Former Poli􀆟cian and Consultant. Over the past 35 years, he has acquired extensive prac􀆟cal experience working in these various fields, as well as substan􀆟al leadership and managerial experience.
Apart from his many years of work experience in both Grenada and North America (Canada), he possesses significant knowledge and experience related to the challenges and impera􀆟ves of the other OECS and CARICOM Countries and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in general.
Between 2008 and 2013, he served as Grenada’s Minister of Finance, Planning, Economy, Energy and Coopera􀆟ves; and as its Minister of Foreign Trade of Grenada between July 2008 and July 2009. In addi􀆟on, he was a member of Grenada’s Parliament- both the Upper and Lower Houses- for fi􀅌een years- between 2003 and 2018.
His extensive knowledge and experience in Law, Economics, Interna􀆟onal Development (including Development Finance), Interna􀆟onal Trade, Public Finance Management and Energy is combined with years of knowledge and prac􀆟cal experience in organiza􀆟onal leadership, management, policy development, parliamentary procedure and teaching and training.
He possesses a sound command of English- both writen and spoken- and a basic working knowledge of Spanish. Public speaking and technical wri􀆟ng have featured prominently in his professional career. He is an experienced nego􀆟ator.
In recent years, he has developed a very keen interest in the implementa􀆟on of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In October 2023, he was appointed by the Grenadian Government to head a Technical Working Group established by the Cabinet of Ministers to undertake a comprehensive assessment of Grenada’s hydrocarbon poten􀆟al and, if found to be commercially viable, devise a strategy and ac􀆟on plan to explore, develop and mone􀆟ze it for the benefit of the ci􀆟zens and the patrimony of the na􀆟on.
