ICT Association Suriname (ICT-AS)
The ICT Association is the branch association of ICT companies in Suriname. The ICT Association and its members are convinced that ICT will provide the solution for a sustainable diversification of our economy through an unambiguous vision, solid leadership and implementation of plans. ICT is the enabler of development within all sectors.
We have 60 members who are all KKF registered companies and have ICT as core business. Our members employ about 2000 people. About 70% of Suriname's economy is supported by the ICT Sector. ICT is indispensable for the survival, development and growth of any other sector.
The ICT-AS focuses on supporting the Surinamese society & economy to facilitate and accelerate the development of Suriname with and through ICT.
Since its foundation on January 20, 2011, work has been done on the basis for a future-proof structure of the sector.
In 2013, 2014 and 2015 the ICT Summits were organized with the aim of introducing the Surinamese society to, among other things, the ICT service providers and developments. In 2015 we launched the ICT Vision 2020 and in 2016, together with various stakeholders, including business organizations and government representatives, we made roadmaps for the realization of the goals set in our vision 2020. In 2019 the Digital Impact Suriname event was organized with the aim of providing a platform for new business impulses, knowledge exchange and peer networks for everyone who wants to actively participate in Suriname's digital transformation. In 2020 we concluded a memorandum of understanding with ICT Associations of 5 other countries, namely Belize, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia and Guyana.
