Entry Requirement

  • Students of Anton De Kom University of Suriname, University of Guyana, University of Trinidad and Tobago & The University of the West Indies who have reached the age of 18 years old. Can be undergraduate or postgraduate students.
  • Young professionals in oil & gas industry with less than 2 years of experience are also welcome to join.
  • The maximum number of participants will be 50.
  • The number of members for each team is limited from 3 to 5 people. Each person can only participate in one team.
  • Contestant requirements: At least one member of the team with programming skills and at least one member with oil and gas background (e.g. petroleum geology or engineering).

 

Registration: Abstract Requirement

  • Titles should be relevant and short (max. 16 words allowed)
  • Must be in English, original and not have appeared in any other publication
  • The body of the abstract needs to be between one - four full pages in length, paper A4. Longer or shorter sized abstracts will not be included in the review process.
  • The abstract must concentrate in itself the essential information of the project:
    • Title
    • Purpose
    • Background/Introduction
    • Plan/Approach
    • References (if any)
    • Name of Team and Team Members

Competition Topics

Students can come up with their own challenges. Below are some examples:
  • Assisted Seismic Interpretation or ML Based Seismic S/N Enhancement
  • Well logs lithology prediction
  • Quantitative Interpretation – AIML Driven
  • Residual Life Prediction of Field Equipment
  • ML-Driven Production Forecasting (Oil/Gas/Water)
  • Artificial Lift Failure Prediction
  • ROP Optimization & Drilling Parameter Recommendation
  • Agentic AI for Oil & Gas Domain Problems

 

Competition Format

  • Participants will be guided on how to use DS365.ai.
  • Participants will be given 2 month to create the solutions.
  • Preliminary Round will be judged by HAL judges.
  • The final round will be presented in SEOGS 2026 and will be judged by industry experts based on presentation, etc.
  • Each presentation will be 10 minutes, maximum.

  • Registration Start: 16 March 2026
  • Registration Deadline: 24 April 2026
  • Team Selection/Participants Finalization: 28 April 2026
  • ENV access: 1st May 2026
  • Preliminary Round (If number of team is limited, this is not needed): 15 June 2026
  • Final Round: During SEOGS 2026, 26 June 2026
  • Winner Announcement: During SEOGS 2026, 26 June 2026

 

Prizes & Award Details

  • All participants that have submitted and presented their project will be awarded with certificate and vouchers.
  • The organizing committee will award:

  • Outstanding contestants will be granted to Halliburton Landmark TV access to E-Learning course
