Local Content Day at SEOGS 2025

PARAMARIBO, 30 May 2025 – The fourth day of the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition (SEOGS) 2025, Friday 20 June, will focus on local content in the energy sector. On this day, Surinamese entrepreneurs will receive information about current developments and opportunities within the industry.

During SEOGS 2025’s Local Content Day, representatives from the business community and the energy sector will share their insights on local content and its significance for the national economy. Key themes include the labour market, local content legislation, and sustainability, with practical examples from the region. Local content refers to the extent to which Surinamese businesses and citizens participate in the economic activities resulting from offshore oil discoveries - such as the supply of goods and services and the employment of Surinamese workers.

The programme includes a presentation on policy developments and an update on the Industrial Baseline Study (IBS), commissioned by TotalEnergies. This study maps out which Surinamese companies have the capacity to deliver products and services to the energy sector. Experts from the energy industry and the private sector will discuss cooperation between investors, local businesses, and communities.

Local Content Dag op SEOGS 2025

 

PARAMARIBO, 30 mei 2025 – De  vierde dag van de Suriname Energy, Oil and Gas Summit & Exhibition (SEOGS) 2025, vrijdag 20 juni, staat in het teken van local content in de energiesector. Surinaamse ondernemers worden dan geïnformeerd over de ontwikkelingen en kansen in de energiesector.

Op de Local Content Dag van SEOGS 2025 zullen vertegenwoordigers uit het bedrijfsleven en de energiesector hun visie geven op local content en het belang daarvan voor de economie.       Thema’s zoals arbeidsmarkt, local content-wetgeving en duurzaamheid komen aan bod, met praktijkvoorbeelden uit de regio. Local content kan worden omschreven als de mate waarin Surinaamse bedrijven en burgers meedelen in de economische activiteiten die de offshore-vondsten met zich meebrengen. Het gaat hierbij om de levering van lokale goederen en diensten  en de invulling van arbeidsplaatsen door Surinamers. 

 

Op het programma staan onder meer een presentatie over beleidsontwikkelingen en een update over de Industrial Baseline Study (IBS) uitgevoerd in opdracht van TotalEnergies.   Dit onderzoek heeft in kaart gebracht welke bedrijven er in Suriname zijn die producten en diensten kunnen leveren voor de energiesector. Experts uit de energiesector en het bedrijfsleven zullen het hebben over samenwerking tussen investeerders, lokale bedrijven en gemeenschappen.

De Local Content Dag is een unieke kans voor Surinaamse bedrijven om zich te profileren en samenwerkingen aan te gaan.
