HACKATON 2025
An opportunity for students and young professionals in the oil & gas market to get familiar with the most commonly used tools in the industry and gain experience in programming and communication skills
Halliburton, SPE and the AAPG Suriname Student Chapter invite undergraduate and postgraduate students, and young professionals with less than 2 years of experience in the oil & gas industry to participate at this year's Hackaton, an event designed to provide a different approach of training & learning for all participating teams, equipping them with real-world knowledge of interpretation practices and the opportunity to gain E&P industry insights & trends, fostering interaction with oil & gas companies and leaders.
The Challenge:
Develop machine learning and artificial intelligence workflow to further enhance conventional geoscience exploration workflow using the landmark research & development platform DS 365.ai
Entry Requirements:
Teams need to submit an abstract before April 21st 2025 to salwa.mohdnor@halliburton.com on one of the available challenges from the list below:
1. Seismic resolution improvement
2. Well logs lithology prediction
3. Seismic well tie automation
4. Well kick prediction
5. Seismic attribute improvement
6. Automated mud loss detection
Titles should be relevant and short (max. 16 words allowed)
Must be in English, original and not have appeared in any other publication
The body of the abstract needs to be between one and four full pages in length, paper A4. Longer or shorter sized abstracts will not be included in the review process.
The abstract must concentrate in the essential information of the project:
- Title
- Purpose
- Background/Introduction
- Plan/Approach
- References (if any)
- Name of Team and Team Members
Registration Opens: March 24th 2025
Registration Closes: April 15th 2025
Teams Selection: April 20th 2025
Preliminary Round (if needed): June 9th 2025
Final Round: June 20th 2025, at SEOGS 2025
Winner Announcement: June 20th 2025, at SEOGS 2025
Participants will be guided on how to use DS365.ai
Participants will be given 1 month to create the solutions
The preliminary round will be judged by Halliburton judges
The final round will be presented at SEOGS 2025 on June 20th, and will be judged by industry experts
Each team will have 10 minutes maximum to do their final presentations
The organizing committee will award prizes for the first, second and third place winners
Outstanding contestants will be granted with Halliburton Landmark TV access to E-Learning courses
