WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (WEE)
Paramaribo, Suriname
4-7 June 2024
We firmly believe empowering women leads to growth in their environment. The Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Program Suriname is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities and skills of Surinamese women-owned businesses (WOBs). Prioritizing professional development and personal growth is an investment that consistently yields the greatest returns.
The WEE Program was initiated as a pilot project during the 2023 SEOGS (Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit) when freelance business consultants collaborated on enhancing skills and capacities within Surinamese women-owned businesses (WOBs).
Initially comprising 10 WOBs, the program evolved into a Community of Practice and a significant movement, yielding various positive impacts on Suriname's supply market and contributing to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
